MOVIE NIGHT AT THE PARK ~ GREASE

We almost ended up cancelling our outing for Movie Night at the Park.  It seemed that for one reason or another almost everyone in the troop didn't want to go.

But, Trinity and Brittnee really wanted to go.  Everyone was really happy we did too.  It turned out to be a super fun night that everyone loved.

We packed up the car with chairs, blankets, dinner and snacks and headed out to Central Park in Huntington Beach.

We got there a little early so the girls got to have some time to run around and play. 

We went down by the lake to see the ducks and click some photos.  It was so pretty out.  Beautiful weather.

They had some fun things for the girls to do.  Here they are racing to see who can get the light bulbs to light up by peddling fast on their bikes.

Since the movie was Grease, they had a fun backdrop set up to take photos with records and blow up guitars.

The girls were happy when they saw one of their friends from school show up too.   Ryan and his mom were there to watch the movie too and so they joined us. 

There were a lot of people that showed up.  This photo was taken early and by the time the movie started it was at least twice as many people. 

It was very nice though because everyone was very friendly.

They kept the crowd entertained and also handed out glow necklaces for free and even shot out t-shirts from a cannon.

Trinity actually caught one of the shirts.

The shirt was way to big for her but she had fun wearing it anyway.

The girls were so good!  Well, actually, they area always good. 

They had a lot of fun and laughed a lot.

The movie screen was super big!  We got to watch them put it up.  The frame is a blow up.  Sort of like those bounce houses.  Once it's blown up, they lay it down then attach the screen to it.

The sound system was wonderful.  It sounded like you were at a concert.

They also had some fun gifts to take home.  Things like little flash lights that attach to your key chain, lots of candy and some stress relievers that were shaped like light bulbs and hard hats.

Here Brittnee came up with a great idea!  Just like in the comics the light bulb over her head shows it.

Before the movie started, they were playing the sound track from Grease and other oldies.  The kids took turns dancing.  Brittnee decided to dance in her seat rather then get up to dance.

 
Trinity and Ryan got up in front of the whole crowd and danced.  I was impressed!

Then all of a sudden all of these girls started to come up from different places in the audience and got up on stage to dance.

It was really cute.  Turned out they were from a dance studio.

Finally it was dark enough for the movie to start.  As I looked around, I could see hundreds of glowing kids and adults.

Then it was time.

The movie we were all waiting for came on.  People were singing along and everyone had a great time.

We all want to go again.  It's a great way to spend a summer evening with friends and family and all for free!

ZOOMARS

To thank the girls for a year of recycling, we took a trip to ZooMars. 

The girls voted on where they wanted to go and this was where they picked.

Zoomars is located in San Juan Capistrano and is a family owned Petting Zoo. 

Even though they have several other animals, the girls wanted to spend most of their time with the Guinea pigs and rabbits.

Some of them were so tame that they didn't care what the kids did to them. 

Look at this guy.  Trinity is holding it like a baby and it loved it.  The little guy just seemed to relax and go to sleep in her arms.

Each girl found the animals that were her favorite and spent most of the time with them. 

The loved feeding them.  Some of them were so full that they couldn't even eat any more.

They also added a new thing to do there.  Mining for gold and gems. 

The only one who wanted to do this was Jesse.  She took home several gems she found. 

They also had a play ground and every once in awhile, they would take a mini break from the animals to run over and play a little bit.

I think they just needed to get up and move around a little bit.  They really did spend hours playing with those rabbits and guinea pigs.

I don't think Nikki left the area where they were located for more then 15 mins. total.  She couldn't seem to get enough of them.

They also built a bigger gift shop.  The girls would wonder in there and try to pick out what she wanted to buy before she went home.

Sadly, they ended up not being able to buy anything because when they told us we had 5 mins. left before they closed, the girls were told that the register was already closed out.  No one was very happy about that.

This little table and chairs was really cute, though it doesn't show up to well in this photo.  They were different animals and toad stools.

A few of the girls did make their way over to pet and play with the goats.  They were actually very sweet goats.

They didn't try to eat your clothes or knock you over.

They ate different food then the rabbits and guinea pigs.  Their food came out of a machine.  So the girls kept it in their shirts. 

I was a little worried about this at first.  I thought maybe they would be like other goats and sheep I had been around that would knock over kids to the food. 

Since that was not the case here, I let the girls continue to feed them this way.

These guys didn't even mind if the kids gave them hugs.  Most goats don't really like to much attention...unless you are feeding them.  But, these guys were so different.  They loved the attention.

It wasn't long before all the goat food was eaten up. 

So, it was back to the rabbits.

And, guinea pigs. 

Then it was time to go.  Of course, each girl wanted to stay longer.   The four hours we were there went by way to quickly for them.

They all wanted to take their favorite animals home.  But, they said their good byes and we finally headed home.

Boy oh boy, these girls sure do LOVE animals. 

SUPER GIRL HEROS - DAY CAMP

Super Girl Camp is over.  The girls had a great time.  Everyone who went was happy they got to go and said they wanted to go again next year.
The first day of camp, everyone was put into different Units.  Each Unit had a name. 

I was the Adult assigned to Aqua Girls, Unit 6.  This was the Unit Jesse, Trinity and Nikki was in.  Sadly, Tuppence was assigned to a different group.  So while I did get a few photos here and there of Tuppence I didn't get as many as the other girls.

I tried my best to catch her at as many activities as I could though.

Unit 6 was picked to lead the flag ceremony on the first day.  The girls were in the Color Guard and presented the flag, said the pledge of allegiance and the Girl Scout Law. 

This ceremony was the official start of each morning, even though they do have singing time first.  That time is really to allow campers to get there before everything starts for the day.

I think they said there were 120 girls at the camp.  I just know it seemed like a lot of girls.  When they sang it was SO loud!

The girls all seem to really love learning all the new songs. 

The first day seemed like it was a bit unorganized.  They had the girls going back and forth and trying to figure out what they should be doing.

The camp was run by the older Girl Scouts and the adults were told to pretty much just sit back and watch.  Don't help out unless there was an emergency or to stop something we felt could end up with someone getting hurt.

The girls were also getting to know each other.  Playing games help to build friendships. 

I have not had a chance to talk to Tuppence since we left camp but I think she made a good friend while she was there. 

Every time I saw her she was with her new friend and sometimes even holding hands as they walked around.

Everyone brought their lunch everyday.  It was like getting to have a picnic for five days in a row.

There is something special about eating outside.  For some reason, everything seems to taste better out in the fresh air.

Not only did they enjoy what they brought for lunch, every day they got two snacks.  One around 10:30 am and one around 2:30pm.

They loved making lanyards.  Every day they were making them.  When ever they had a free minute they would take them out and work on them. 

Every day they had craft time.  They would make something that became a part of a Super Girl costume.

They all got matching red hats.  Of course, that made finding a girl a bit hard.  Trust me, when you put 120 girls all in the same shirts and red hats, it's hard to find who you are looking for.

The first day, they all got their t-shirts. 

The girls all colored in the t-shirts with markers that are color fast.  This was the first part of their costumes.

This was just the first of many crafts.

It was fun seeing all the girls wearing their shirts.  They were all the same shirt but look so different from each other because of the way they colored them.

Each morning as the girls head to the Flag Ceremony, they had to go under the Bridge of Silence. 

We learned about the Bridge of Silence when we all went camping over the weekend.

Tuppence and her mom got to enjoy some time together as everyone sang in the morning.

Playing games really helpped the girls to learn each other names. 

In this game, they would toss a ball over the net after they called out the name of one of the girls on the other side.  If no one caught the ball, after it was tossed, the girl was out.

As a way to keep track of all the girls, they had to line up with a "buddy", two by two and call out their numbers.  Once all the numbers were called out and all the girls were counted for, they were able to move to the next area they were going to.

Lanyards were a big thing!  Everywhere I looked, I would see girls working on her lanyard.  It was the perfect thing to keep the girls busy during the down times or as they waited to move to the next location.

The girls loved doing lanyards so much that they begged me to get some for them to work on as a troop.  So, I went out to Michelle's and purchased several colors. 

I think working on lanyards in the car when we go on our outings would be a great thing for the girls to do to keep them busy.

I'll bring the supplies to our Movie night on the 23rd too.

What kind of a super hero would not have a mask???  Of course, they had to make a mask for their costume.

And a cape.

The Aqua Girls wanted to take a group photo in front of the back drop that one of the older girls made. 

This back drop was used for photos of all the girls so they would have a photo to remember their fun week.  They each made a frame to put the picture in.

The last day of Camp, each Unit got together and did a skit.

This is Trinity and Nikki in their skit.  Jesse went out of town on Friday so she was not there this day.

 After the skits were all done, the good byes were being sad and everyone was gathering their things to take home. 

I looked up and saw thie Penguin walking by.  WHAT!  Where did a Penguin come from?

Wait a minute!  I think I know that Penguin.  Do I? 

It's Nikki!  I knew it.  I know my girls from a mile away.  But, to be honest, I still have NO idea why she was walking around in a Penguin costume.

The final song was sung, the last game was played.  No more crafts to do.  The lanyards were put away. 

Super Girl Hero's Day Camp was over for another year.  But...there is always next year!!!
